How does a 403(b) Account Work?

  • Employees who are eligible may participate in the Employer's Plan
  • You select an available Investment Provider, then open your account
  • Once opened, complete an SRA form and deliver to Payroll who proceses your monthly contribution
  • Payroll will deduct that contribution amount and remit it into your Investment Provider
  • The Investment Provider adds it to your 403(b) account

Are There Fees and Expenses?

  • Depending on the Investment Provider you choose, costs and fees may be charged;  These fees are disclosed by each Investment Provider
  • Surrender fees may be charged for early account access, as disclosed by each Investment Provider


Are There IRS Rules About These Accounts?

  • Tax advantaged accounts are subject to access rules and your 403b Plan's rules 
  • Make sure you are aware of these rules and the IRS penalties that can be imposed for distributions prior to age 59 1/2


What is a TPA and how do they work for you?

  • TPA stands for Third Party Administrator
  • They administer the 403b Plan for your Employer, provide Plan information and approve your account transactions
  • Salary Reduction Agreements, Transaction Approval, Plan Information, Retirement Resources and Savings Calculators are available through a website, 24/7.
  • Your TPA's Name is 403b Partners.
